Cloud computing is coming to the enterprise from all directions, and quickly. Some services are quite mature, but most are not. The majority of enterprises are experimenting with public cloud services and building their own private cloud services, whether they know it or not. Cloud computing has tremendous promise, but the challenges and the dangers are bigger than most realize. Virtualization has morphed from a hot consolidation trend to a hot private cloud computing trend.
